Add Signal Engineer Areas to the Vision Zero Database #8322

What application are you using?

Vision Zero (Editor)

Describe the problem.

I would like to have the Signal Engineer Areas available in the Vision Zero Database.

Describe the outcome you'd like to see when this feature is implemented.

Please add the Signal Engineer Areas layer from DataMart (GISDM/TRANSPORTATION.signal_engineer_areas) with SRID 4326 as a layer in the Vision Zero database, similar to the "council_districts" table, and name the new layer "atd_signal_engineer_areas"

This will enable the team to run spatial queries of vision zero data against the signal engineer areas.

Describe any workarounds you currently have in place or alternative solutions you've considered.

Currently requires multiple processes between databases, platforms, and analytical tools.

Is there anything else we should know?

3/31/2022 or sooner for project deliverable.

In 2/2/22 Grooming,

Team expressed the sentiment that we don’t see where this would show up in the UI.

Also that if it’s a very common reporting need, then we would think about an ETL.

Adrien should be able to do this task outside of VZ. And as we get her onboarded with Dockerize Crash Mapping Tool, she should have the ability to utilize the data in an environment that’s good for her.



Andrew may also be available to create tasks in model builder in ArcGIS Pro.

Request clarification for use cases.

The need is for analytical purposes. I frequently use the geospatial layers (locations, council districts, and jurisdictions) outside of requesting assistance from a GIS person. If it were housed in the database, I could run analysis without GIS dependence.
