Rename the site? #59

"Open Data DC" is also the name of DC's data portal (http://opendata.dc.gov/) — and they even have the twitter handle (https://twitter.com/opendatadc)!

Also, even if that weren't true, "Open Data DC" is still confusing in that it sounds like it could be an official government site. So we may want to consider changing the site's name.

The question is, what to change it to? Two easy, if unsexy, options are:

"Code for DC's data portal"
"data.codefordc.org" (calling the site by its URL)

Thoughts?

Have to agree with Greg here. Name collision... ever the bane of computer scientists.

I'll add that we house data for the entire DC metro area, which includes MD and VA. I've heard this region called DMV, which has its own baggage. I do like strongly tying this back to Code for DC... if what we build becomes the go to for open data related to this region then it will be a great plug for attracting new interest in CFDC.

agree there is naming collision, disagree with perceptions as they are relative to the perceiver.

i could write a long list of reasons why its optimal as is, but just looking at the suggestions given, what is the goal here? what do you think users are searching for/not searching for and are/are not finding? what will this change/fix/solve?
