There are also some earlier vanilla flag checks (in StartLevel()
) that are impossible to know before loading the map file.
For transparency, the user should know when they're playing a map that uses the new xmapedit features, and be required to turn off vanilla mode manually. Sorry but I must decline this suggestion.
Something I noticed is that in non-vanilla compatible maps, a message will display saying that this map may not work in vanilla mode. Keeping in mind that it is able to detect this (to some degree at the very least), would it be feasible to have like an "auto" option for vanilla mode where it will enable and disable dynamically based on whether the current level (or mod) is detected as incompatible?
