Menu Issue - Not displaying #85

Closed Tiddalick closed 10 months ago

The game launches and does not report any issues in the log file but the menu is completely invisible aside from a black box.

The settings are still selectable as I can quit the game by pressing the "ESC", "up arrow", "Enter" and "Y" keys in sequence.

I have tried running it in Software/OpenGL modes at different resolutions / full screen and with the autoload on and off. No combination seems to correctly render the menu. I am using the latest release as of todays date (18 Jan 2024 for me). NBlood does not present this problem as of its latest version.

This is what I see for the menu image

Hi there, thanks for the report.

Could you try putting nblood.exe and nblood.pk3 in the same directory as NotBlood, and check if NBlood shows any issues?

Tiddalick commented 10 months ago

Hi,

I did as you requested and it presented the same problem. As an additional test, I copied the notblood.exe and the notblood.pk3 into my existing NBLOOD directory and then it worked just fine.

I will investigate and see what is different between the two directories and report back.... I had used the files in my existing NBLOOD directory to make the new NOTBLOOD directory, so I am not sure what the difference is yet, but I will check.

It might be the file path itself, or something relating to the troublesome virtual file system of eduke. If you can replicate this issue, please report it upstream as this is not a NotBlood exclusive issue, and likely affects all eduke based ports.

Hi, No it was my fault. I had not copied the TILES016.art and TILES017.art file for some reason when I was moving things to the NotBlood directory. There is no bug, just user stupidity.

Sorry for wasting your time. I am looking forward to playing this version!
