Cross slide power feed #112

How about adding a motor & controller for the cross slide? Software modifications needed would be quite easy task. The spare Settings-button could be used to switch the feed mode. ELS is probably mostly used with lathes which don't have cross slide power feed (including mine).

I would second this. I have an old Atlas lathe with no QCGB and no power crosslide and have just recently discovered this project on Youtube (still less than 1/2 way through the videos) and am seriously intrigued. The leadscrew part probably would allow me to mod the lathe in a minimal and reversible way vs. hoping I find a QCGB for the vintage lathe I have (I understand that Atlas upgraded the ways on later lathes to be thicker which may make later QCGB's not fit my lathe, which I believe is an earlier one because its ways are relatively thin). The crosslide mod would be less reversible but still something I'd be interested in doing. Not interested in full CNC, if I were to do that, I'd get a newer lathe to convert, I'm only interested in making it equivalent to having QCGB for threading/feeds and powered crossslide.

The alternative would be to buy/build two parrallel systems and have one labeled "Crosslide" the other labeled "Threads/Feeds", and somehow splitting the output from the rotary encoder, but having a combined system would be best.
