SOS Reset sometimes #279

Open Olazas opened 10 months ago

Hello!!!

Ive detected some time the controlPanel unit make reset..... At the start show the initial title reset and show again the title..... and sometimes when I change from IN to MM,,, sometimes reset again, and sometime also I change thread to feed and reset too.

All works fine,,, but What will be that if we take in mind that 5v power supply is ok??

Ive got ELS 1.4.00

Thanks a lot!!!

I would suggest you have an intermittent connection problem on your display board or interface board, most likely, the display board. The fact that it sometimes occurs when you press the buttons would be an indication of a loose connection, dry joint or unsoldered joint being disturbed as you put some slight pressure on the display board by pressing on the button. Just a thought based on decades of fault location carried out personally.

Hi Further to your problem with intermittent reset. You mentioned in your last email that you have had the system installed since 2019. Has the problem started recently or has it been an ongoing intermittent problem? If the resets have been occurring since the ELS has been installed, then it could be either electrical interference from a local source getting into your system, either radiated RF or entering through the power supply. Pulses, spikes and other nasty things riding on utility supplies can often be an intermittent source of glitches in a system. I always put filters on all supply lines coming into a system and also on items like motor feed lines from a VFD, variable frequency drive. Also, good quality cables with adequate shielding is essential to keep out RF interference. I can't emphasize enough how intermittent faults are notoriously difficult to find sometimes, and I would often go round checking connections, poking wires, wiggling components many, many times before the fault is isolated to one component or area. Sometimes a little heat or cold directed at components can help show up a faulty component or connection. Or, a little pressure on a circuit board can sometimes show up a hairline crack in the printed track. Good luck and be persistent.

If the display is from 2019 i would highly suspect the display board. I did mine in early 2020 and went through several boards before i got a good one. fro my understanding Clough42 has begun having his owne disoay boards produced. it may be worth while to get one of his new boards. Lack of qualty boards was the reasonJames started producing his board.
