We had a phone call on 2/1 with OC Public Works, Moulton Niguel Water District, CA Data Collaborative to discuss details about the Urban Drool Tool Project.
Following the call, our teams determined a rough outline: project would be a map w/ search bar for residents to input addresses. Results would provide data about the residence (i.e. distance from a stormdrain or the beach; how many people live in their census block; water rebate information)
OCPW highlighted some examples we can model the Urban Drool Tool after: NOLA Blight Status and Boston Adopt-A-Hydrant, we decided to host the Urban Drool Tool on GH pages.
To see our backlog and project board, check out the repo, under "Projects"
Next steps: 1) Get OC Census Block data into Mapbox, 2) Set up HTML page on GH page, 3) (for later) Incorporate Google Data Analytics to track which addresses are being searched most frequently.
NOTE: Next Urban Drool Tool work session is on Saturday, Feb 18th, 2017 around 12pm. Location TBD.
Plans for Next Meeting (02/27/2017) + Future 🔮
NOTE: We will be meeting next on 2/27, not 2/20 (Presidents' Day)
