1. CodeLab will now meet WEEKLY! 🎉
   • Review of our Code of Conduct. If you haven't already, complete our intro survey and workshop idea survey. Follow us on Twitter and Slack!
   • First week of month: Onboarding for newcomers, new projects, project/language you started in the previous month
   • Once a month: Urban Drool Tool work session
   • Rest of the month: Workshops
   • Pair programming "track": @svincent has been moving the JavaScript Exercism exercises to Glitch—so you don't have to worry about setting up! We are interested in figuring out how to move exercises for other languages to Glitch.

• Simeon's tutorial on JavaScript promises (asynchronous programming): “Creating a batch/sequence of meaningful logic/linear events,” “linear declarative way of specifying what you want to happen," "a way of passing a piece of info from one part of chain to another," "functionally building a set of behaviors [, more notes later]
• Further reading on event loops and microtasks: “Tasks, microtasks, queues, and schedules” by Jake Archibald
• Trick of the night: Command or Control + D to edit multiple lines at once in Glitch, VSC, Atom, Sublime
• Defining a prototype: Object for objects
• Glitchy wifi connection = time for dev jokes, like Simeon's fave: [‘hip’, ‘hip’]
• Rob: Will share his tabs vs. spaces tool
• Giving Joseph the real deal: Software development is "failure-driven development”
• While talking Mozilla WebVR team: K Lars Lohn of Mozilla @ PyCon 2016
• What Urban Drool Tool needs: finding nearest storm drain after user enters address, indicating areas outside of region (ex: gray-out?), using census blocks to compare water usage with # of residents vs. industrial water waste, income levels, converting polygon data as .shp files to GeoJSON (because Mapbox only takes GeoJSON data)
