Creative Cloud unable to connect to internet #52

Closed rodrigofbm closed 4 years ago

rodrigofbm commented 6 years ago

Creative Cloud screen is normal, showing apps. But it has been updating for some time and has not gone beyond the 0%. I can not install any app until I finish this update!

corbindavenport commented 6 years ago

Can you try the troubleshooting step for 'Install error at 3%'? https://github.com/corbindavenport/creative-cloud-linux/wiki/Troubleshooting#install-error-at-3-ubuntu

rodrigofbm commented 6 years ago

After this I am getting this error when trying to install PS: Error in POL_Wine

EDIT After clicking next several times the CC Download started again, now I'll wait and see if it worked!

EDIT2 Still not work: https://i.imgur.com/Kai8Vfd.png

elipeF commented 6 years ago

Same issue

Clamparion commented 6 years ago

I had the same issue. I've tryed your fix with the 'Install error at 3%', but after i've run these commands my wine version keeps on crashing everytime i start it.

szczot3k commented 6 years ago

Same issue

jlxip commented 6 years ago

Same over here.

reneroth commented 6 years ago

Same issue, freshly installed Ubuntu 18. Tried the 3% fix, which made my wine crash, so I reinstalled the wine version and we're back to the original problem.

Kammi638 commented 6 years ago

Same problem on Ubuntu 18.

corbindavenport commented 6 years ago

I'm also getting this bug on PopOS 18.04. Not sure what the solution is yet.

corbindavenport commented 6 years ago

After some investigation into the debugging logs, this seems to be the main culprit:

fixme:bcrypt:key_asymmetric_verify Gnutls does not support algorithm

Some people playing League of Legends and other games have reported the same bug: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflinux/comments/82tzr1/bugsplat_error_after_patch_85/

It looks like the working solution is to update the Wine version. Trouble is, I have yet to get Creative Cloud working on anything higher than Wine 2.20-staging. Hmm...

corbindavenport commented 6 years ago

Another possible issue is that DNS queries might be failing, because you need the 32-bit DNS resolution libraries on 64-bit systems. Can everyone try running the command for their distro and report back?

64-bit Debian 8 : apt-get install libnss-mdns:i386
32-bit Debian or Ubuntu : apt-get install libnss-mdns
64-bit Ubuntu : apt-get install libnss-mdns:i386
32/64-bit Fedora : dnf install nss-mdns.i686
32-bit Mandriva : urpmi nss_mdns
64-bit Mandriva : Not available
32-bit SUSE : zypper install nss-mdns
64-bit SUSE : zypper install nss-mdns-32bit
32-bit Arch : pacman -Syu nss-mdns
64-bit Debian 7 and older : apt-get install lib32nss-mdns

Also make sure to reboot afterwards.

Mildpaul commented 6 years ago

Tried the 32-bit DNS resolution libraries on my Ubuntu 18.04 64-bit system, but no difference. Still stuck at 0% updating. Appreciate the effort though :)

Kammi638 commented 6 years ago

Tried on Ubuntu and doesnt help.

jlxip commented 6 years ago

Tried on Debian 9.5 (x86_64) and it didn't work either.

corbindavenport commented 6 years ago

So the issue isn't related to DNS, hmm. I'm testing a new version of the script based on Wine 3.13, but it's running into the same internet connection problems.

I still think it's something related to 32-bit libraries. When I set up a 64-bit Wine prefix, I can load pages in the Wine Internet Explorer just fine. But in a 32-bit prefix, I get nothing. I haven't got Creative Cloud working in a 64-bit prefix though, just an internet connection.

diegoaurino commented 6 years ago

Is this happening only in Debian based distros?

jlxip commented 6 years ago

If you fix this by making it work in x86_64 prefixes, that would be double cool.

corbindavenport commented 6 years ago

I definitely want to get CC working in a 64-bit prefix, but I've been unsuccessful so far.

chrismaree commented 6 years ago

I'm also really keen to see this working!

stanglt commented 6 years ago

Tried the DNS-Fix on Arch Linux (x86_64) and it also doesn't work.

KevDoy commented 6 years ago

I'm investigating this as well.

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

I'm consolidating all installation-related bugs into this one, because I'm fairly certain the same problem is affecting everyone, and it doesn't help anyone to have 20 different discussions going on about the same thing.

I've been trying on and off for days to figure out why the Adobe Creative Cloud installer can't connect to the internet, and so far I still can't fix it. I have an updated version of the script in the dev branch, which currently uses Wine 3.20. The installer does launch, but clicking Sign In just gives an internet connection error, as seen in #61.

Here are some different setups I have tried (all using Wine 3.20 with Windows 7 set as the OS):

My best guess is that there is some issue that prevents 32-bit Wine prefixes from establishing an internet connection on 64-bit machines. I've tried switching the entire prefix over to 64-bit, but that means Internet Explorer 8 from winetricks can't be installed, so it actually takes us a step back from a working installer.

Svmko commented 5 years ago

I'm on Ubuntu 18.04 and I can launch it perfectly, but it's not showing any apps. Is this part of the current issue?

rottenpants commented 5 years ago

Yep, like corbin said cc can't connect to the internet so it doesn't load any app.

Japhys commented 5 years ago

Having the same error. Does anyone know a good guide to install Bridge en Photoshop 2018 on 18.04 till this is solved? Somehow I cannot get it to work on POL. I really really don't want to go back to Widows but I need PS

rottenpants commented 5 years ago

I don't know if this is allowed here but i found a really good tutorial on how to install photoshop on ubuntu:

http://hanifsheikhbd.blogspot.com/2018/05/installing-adobe-photoshop-cc-2018.html

Japhys commented 5 years ago

Thanks! Never gotten this far with PS on kubuntu but unfortunately ps crashes during start up. Will give it another go

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

Please don't reply to this with "this doesn't work for me" or "please fix this". There are a lot of people following this ticket now and they'll all get email notifications for every new comment. I'm still looking into a solution for this, but I don't have a lot of free time and I haven't made any headway since my previous comment.

Also, as a reminder, I'll happily accept pull requests or anything else from someone who finds a solution.

unfulvio commented 5 years ago

Hey sorry to send an update despite your comment above, but I thought this could be of interest to the people wanting this to be resolved.

If this bug is the root cause of why the script isn't working anymore, I'd be willing to set up a bounty to attract someone knowledgeable to work on it. Perhaps others would be willing to partecipate in funding the bounty to raise the stakes. If you like the idea, I am not sure how to set this up, but I'd definitely throw some money at it.

303darthbobby commented 5 years ago

Sorry for the comment, but piggy backing on the previous user: I have created a bug bounty at https://www.bountysource.com/issues/60722915-ceative-cloud-unable-to-connect-to-internet if anyone wishes to back.

unfulvio commented 5 years ago

Excellent. If you don't mind, I'll wait for a response from @corbindavenport to confirm if he endorses this as the project creator/maintainer and we have an agreement on the platform to use for funding the bounty. Thanks.

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

I'm on board with doing a bug bounty, and if BountySource works we can use that. What do I need to do (if anything) to make sure the bounty gets paid to whoever solves it, and not myself?

unfulvio commented 5 years ago

I'm unfamiliar with BountySource or other platforms, hence I asked for clues in setting the bounty up. I believe that BountySource platforms awards the money to the person solving the problem (if there's more than one person you can choose which solution is accepted and so on). Hey if it ends to be you, I guess you deserve the money sir!

KevDoy commented 5 years ago

It won't charge you at all. If you go to the backers tab, it shows those who contributed funds to getting the bug solved. This money is currently held by Bountysource and will be awarded to the developer that solves the issue.

I added 15. Crossing my fingers.

devlsh commented 5 years ago

Added $20 to it.

unfulvio commented 5 years ago

100$ :dollar:

luiscassih commented 5 years ago

At first even internet explorer hasn't internet connection, after installing "crypt32" and "Internet Explorer 6" components on POL it successfully connected to internet but it's not fully working, not all apps appears (I wanted Adobe XD but it isn't showing). https://imgur.com/nYeNQ0n Still has several errors but kinda works, I can navigate between tabs and even go to Discover https://imgur.com/mAO1dJf So internet connection works On the other side, the Adobe update works until ~8% and crash, and still cannot install any application. https://imgur.com/xvOiDh6 Anyways, I'll keep looking. I need Adobe XD :P

Edit: Internet Explorer is not needed after all. On the script, add "crypt32" to the winetricks components, and add POL_Wine_OverrideDLL "builtin" "crypt32" after Set_OS line https://imgur.com/bvJDl0H It throws a lot of errors though. It manages to update to 100% but it's unstable, still crashing https://imgur.com/DvX3Ak1 at least internet connection is working https://imgur.com/btr85ms

I'll try with another CC version or keep looking at the logs

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

No version of Internet Explorer is required at all, or is IE8 still needed? If we don't need Internet Explorer, we could switch the Wine prefix to 64-bit, which would probably allow Adobe XD to run (since a 64-bit processor is in the system requirements for XD)

aramghamoyannl commented 5 years ago

Is there already a fix for apps screen not launching ??

marcocrio commented 5 years ago

Having the same problem here, Ubuntu 18.04. CC was successfully installed, it had access to the internet since I was able to log in into my account but the apps tab wouldn't load.

Now I've struggling with this issue for years and I'm sick to having to switch my os or having to use another computer to use adobe. Now I ain't no expert on Linux and not to mention wine and playonlinux but if y'all point me into some good tutorials or a place to start researching Imma focus my attention in solving this issue.

colin-i commented 5 years ago

The apps tab wouldn't load. Falling back to virtual machine solution. https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/tools/vms/

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

@luiscassih Can you submit a PR?

pauldowlin commented 5 years ago

Contributed to BountySource.

pvmelnichuk commented 5 years ago

Any updates here? Got the same error trying MedianXLSigma installer on crossover over mac.

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

No, no one has gotten this to work yet.

bensow commented 5 years ago

Can CC still be installed on Linux without the script aka manually? Or is the issue with Creative Cloud itself?

KevDoy commented 5 years ago

Can CC still be installed on Linux without the script aka manually? Or is the issue with Creative Cloud itself?

If this was the case, we could update the script to work. So the answer is no.

ghost commented 5 years ago

Wine 4.2 has added support for ECC cryptographic keys. I have read that the error has something related to cryptography dlls. Have anyone tried CC in this version?

corbindavenport commented 5 years ago

The dev branch has a new version of the script based on Wine 4.2. In its current state, the download and installation works fine (at least on my Fedora 29 install), but the login window takes several minutes to open after that, and then errors out. It looks like the webview containing the login page never loads.
