A while ago, @reinierl mentioned to me that we should warn users that providing gear in your profile could be dangerous as thieves might know what to get in which location. We could somehow protect this data to specific users, or warn them beforehand.

The idea with collecting gear data is to eventually make gear lists, showing the most poplar articles, and then create an amazon affliate program to present these items to our users, to finance CP without ugly advertisments or paid memberships.

I imagine that if we randomize users' locations and reduce visibility of gear to logged in users as per #30 , we're covered a long way already. And perhaps state in the user interface that this information is visible to all app users.
