Lex || Touch Tracking Android Application

Over the past two decades the field of psycholinguistics has greatly benefited from the eye-tracking methodologies used to study spoken language processing. This paradigm known as the visual world paradigm has helped unravel the interface between cognitive subsystems of language processing and others such as memory and attention. However, one drawback of this methodology has been that it has to be performed under laboratory conditions, where participants would have to wear head-mounted eye-trackers or rest their head on a chin-rest. Current technological advances such as smartphones have provided a new platform for performing behavioural and cognitive experiments. We propose a touch-based methodology that we had defined as finger tracking. Participants will provide a continuous stream of input which will give insight into their internal spoken-word processing.
