https://laws.council.nyc.gov/ is dead. Looks like it's time to turn off this site.

TODO:

[x] Turn off the scrapers in datamade/scrapers-us-municipal
[x] Clean up deployment and related artifacts on the Councilmatic server
[ ] Clean up deployment artifacts in AWS
[ ] Remove NYC from https://councilmatic.org
[ ] Remove pointer to NYC Council Councilmatic from https://nyc.councilmatic.org/

Hi, I wrote to the datamade email earlier about this and haven't gotten a response. But I'm curious why you are spinning down the server? Is it possible we could maintain the project still?

Hi @jorepstein thanks for chiming in here. The https://laws.council.nyc.gov/ site is currently down and we are in discussions with the folks at the Council Speaker's Office to resolve it. I'll update this thread when we have a resolution.

Hey @derekeder sounds good. Just for planning's sake, do you expect that to be maybe in the next couple weeks or are we talking longer?

Hi @derekeder, has there been any update from their office? I have colleagues that were hoping to use the program for some general election engagement work. Possibly I could reach out to my council member to help with any roadblocks?

Sure, will follow up by email. For the record, the initiative I was working on last year is no longer in the works but I am still interested in hearing what the plan is for this going forward!
