I took a look at some old job ads. As a first stab at this I suggest the following:
Mandatory fields:
Job Title Location (physical location, University, Department) Description (including requirements and responsibilities) Salary Professor advertising the position Contact information (Address, Telephone, Email) Closing Date to submit applications Date posted
Optional fields could be:
Funding source Recommendations References
The page would also need to have html links. Usually these are for:
lab websites link to submit application online
So we would need to provide these too.
I guess also we could further breakdown some of the more important fields into separate fields if we want. For example, Description could be subdivided into 4:
job description and responsibilities educational requirements experience recommendations
That's all I can think of at the moment, but that can get the discussion started.
@rjdodson , I think you did this with having in mind that the SUBMITTER fills this in. But that's not the case, at least not for a long while. And we want it simpler. Plus, for example, the 'closing date' cannot be mandatory as many people don't have that. It seems a mostly british formal thing.
But thanks for all the work. I will create an updated list in a little while

Q for Sidd: It would be nice if 'Date Posted' could be added automatically?? Most fields need to be free text, if not I add note.
I add them in the order it should appear and mark M for Mandatory, and O for Optional.
