Aims/objectives.

We need a forum to involve the RMaP community. This can help to prioritize features, orient the roadmap, and respond to queries.

A clear and concise description of todo items.

This is a good start: https://docs.github.com/en/discussions/quickstart

@CDieterich wrt login, whatever we choose, login will almost always be required. Platforms like nodebb may allow contribution from non-registered users, to some extent, that may depend on the plan, but I'm not willing to install and/or manage another piece of software.

In my opinion, GitHub Discussions is the best solution. I thought it allowed contributions from non-users, but this discussion seems pretty stale and I haven't found any update... On the other hand, registration is pretty simple: first time a non-user tries to participate in a discussion (forum, polls, Q&A, etc.), there is a prompt for registration, and that's it. The greatest advantage is that we don't have to "scatter" scimodom-related content across different platforms, which would be the case if we'd use some other forum, and that would require login anyway. Here, we can create discussions by topic, create polls, we can have our Q&A for the server, bedRMod-related content, etc.
