password authentication not working #880

Original Savannah ticket 93313 reported by None on Mon Apr 2 23:14:46 2012.

... because phedex does not work with Firefox 11.0, nor does it work with Safari 5.1.2

This is basically bringing my ability to do data distribution to a grinding halt.

For Safari, the issue is that I log in with HN passwd because I don't have credentials in safari in my browser. And the phedex interface is simply not working at all with passwd login as best as I can tell.

For firefox it simply ain't working period.

Is this ever going to get fixed? It's been broken for a couple months. Sorry if I sound annoyed. I am annoyed.

Any suggestions for where I can get a browser that works with phedex?

thanks, frank

Dear Frank,

the first issue - PhEDEx web not working with Firefox 11.0 - was solved in the latest release. Please let us know if this is not the case.

concerning the second issue - PhEDEx web does not accept HN password authentication with Safari 5.1.2 on MacOS - could you provide more details?

1) Do you still see the issue in the current website release?

2) Which page are you trying to access? I suppose it is this page, since it the only page where password authentication is supported: https://cmsweb.cern.ch/phedex/prod/Request::Create

3) What error message do you get?

4) After you enter your HN password, what do you see in the top-right corner of the page? It should show your name, roles and "Logged in via Password"

Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience

Cheers Nicolo'
