What are the ways technology can be used to enable and enhance learning?

The problem is that learning (in this context) incorporates different bodies of knowledge that have specific pedagogical requirements. Learning to be a surgeon requires different learning methods and tools to learning to be a historian. Technology can help, but it is also suited to different disciplines. For example, Code Academy is great for coding, but the equivalent for history, philosophy or english literature is impossible until the invention of general AI. Although learning in STEM subjects and the humanities both involve the development of critical thinking, the former is much more amenable to verification by computer, and therefore suited to teaching using large scale open platforms.
