Reclaim business rates overpayment #137

Spoke to the council. It was like pulling my own teeth. After much debate, they agree we've overpaid for the year starting 1st April 2018.

So the process is that precisely a week before we vacate the premises, we email them telling them our vacation date and they'll refund the money to our account.

29/5 - I've emailed the council with all relevant details

26/6 - spoke to the council as they hadn't responded at all. Turns out they'd received the letter but done nothing whatsoever about it, including not cancelling the direct debit (which I made them do now so we don't get charged in July).

They need some info on the landlord before they can close the account, so I'll get that from TH and send over so we can reclaim our overpayments

27/6 - This will go on into July because the council has sent us an incorrect final bill and they can't change it until their billing team has looked at it. I'll have to call back next week.

Only a couple of months after this all began, and they've responded to our request to vacate premises - they want more info, including directing me to a form that I could have filled out in May.

Will follow up in a couple of weeks

Chased again, nothing. Will give them a call

UPDATE: they've replied asking for the name of the landlord, which I sent in July. They sent me a form to fill in, but the link is putting up a 502 error. 🙄

Tower Hamlets have said they'll pay us back some money, but they've not said how much - so will have to monitor the account to see when it comes in, and compare with what I think we're owed for overpayments

My mistake - Tower Hamlets did actually send us documentation along with the payment, which has been received and reconciled.

Closing the issue as it was just split out from #135 and it's now complete
