Internet has proven to be consistently poor

We need to look into what's causing this and fix the problem.

TalkTalk have said the connection is fine, which means it must be a WiFi issue

@sohilpandya please test the wired ethernet connection if it's still not working properly

@iteles did these issues exist when fat lama were in the space? To me, it appears that they only started happening when I joined / when we got the new router? #1

They definitely existed. Most people used the FAC network when they were here. That's why we got the new router.

The FAC network is also provided by TalkTalk, so why would our WiFi be worse? Interference? Perhaps we need to change the router WiFi channels? Reposition the router? Anyone else have ideas?

So apparently talktalk visited without telling me they would...even though they were meant to notify me of when the appointment was...hopefully this improves things though

I haven't had any issues since the above at all and have just checked with Rujuta who has had none either.

Just had a couple of dropouts, one in the evening yesterday and another one just now.

The internet is just down now and has been since I've arrived. 😟

It's strange as the one in 14 is working as we're all connected to it. just our one....

@sohilpandya I'm at a client site today - can you confirm the times it's been down? 9am-10.30am? I assume resetting the router / turning it on/off again doesn't solve the issue?

I think those timings are correct, It has just happened again at 11:00, I'm getting a bit annoyed by this. 😢

@markwilliamfirth is there an alternative or should I consider buying one of those 4g dongles.... It is really annoying to not be able to consistently connect to the internet.

@sohilpandya can you tell me what's happened today? Were there outages? What time? If you let me know I'll submit a complaint to TalkTalk.

@markwilliamfirth Please can we call and get an engineer to come out asap, from what I can gather from this issue there have been consistent outages for more than a month now.

@iteles in order to make you a complaint you have to describe the issue and when the issue occurred so they can check the connectivity history

first at 10.30 and then again at 12.30.

It showed me that I was connected to the internet but wasn’t able to Browse.

More explicitly I was in the middle of pushing my commits to github. And the second time I was accessing the staging database.

Again, 10.30 can't access the internet. Had to connect next door to post this here.

It was better. There was one point in the day where me and jack encountered intermittent internet. But apart from that all good yesterday.

The issue didn’t stick around for too long either. 🤔

To update this issue:

It seems that this is an intermittent issue - I'll make a complaint the next time it occurs with a timestamp of when it happened

Haven't had any issues for the last two months but it has been quite quiet at the office (maybe 6 of us tops when Hands On is around).
