the app class name (top-left corner) looks valid. it's just your icon pack doesn't support it and you said "most icons", but only showed one

Most icons mean every apps icon except foot and firefox-nightly. I just thought it would be unnecessary to show 15 examples of the same thing (just with different apps). I just have trouble understanding why ags doesn't display icons in the workspace switcher when it does in the app launcher.

that's how it guesses icon name apps in launcher have desktop entries which tell what icon to use, but apps in overview reported by hyprland don't

I installed qutebrowser from the official arch repo. Also I still have no idea how to fix this, or even just how to set custom icons that would get recognized in the overview. I would appreciate any help (or fix).
EDIT: So while the app launcher was using the apps default icons, the ovetview was using my default icon theme which was a broken Adwaita by default which could only display a few icons. I've got it fixed by installing and applying a working icon theme.
The issue
Ags workspace switcher missing almosy every icon. The only icons properly displaying in the workspace swither are foot (footclient doesn't) and firefox-nightly. All the other apps just show a missing icon. Whats weird that the app launcher doesn't have this problem and displays all the icons properly. (see example in screenshots)
As seen here the same program (qutebrowser for this example) only shows icon in the app launcher. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting, as well as what logs to post.
