Applying rotations to the parent objects before attempting to realign the children seems to yield better results more consistently.

I'll be merging Digi's changes to fix positioning which may or may not implement this already - either way, since things are gonna be working fairly differently I'm gonna close this for now but keep it in mind when I integrate the new process.
