Seller form - tiny formatting glitch #17

Open chris31519 opened 11 years ago

chris31519 commented 11 years ago

After copying the data from another boat, it appears without line breaks e.g.

Mainsail with in mast reefing Genoa on Selden roller furling Rod kick Spare forward halyard 2 x Self tailing genoa winches 2 x self tailing halyard winch

But then if you save the form and go back in the formatting is shown correctly:

Mainsail with inmast furling Genoa fully overhauled with new UV strip 2012 on Furlex roller reefing 2 x ST 2 speed Genoa winches 2 x ST 2 speed halyard/reefing winches on cabin top with clutches

okay i'm looking into that now.

evanrolfe commented 11 years ago

which yachtshare did you select when doing this? I've just tried it with a few different yachtshares and they all have their data formatted correctly with linebreaks and that.

chris31519 commented 11 years ago

Oh. It's an IE thing. OK in Chrome. OK when you exit the saved form and go back in.

Unfortunatley most ppl will be using IE...

chris31519 commented 11 years ago

Here is a potential workaround - if you click SAVE then refresh the page, IE sorts itself out.

Could do a browser check and do that automatically just for IE.

Not elegant, but workaroaunds never are. Depends what's involved in fixing this - not something to spend too much time on

Having that refresh occur is not as straight forward as it sounds since it needs to be completed only after the results have been returned from teh query to save the form to a session.

Does this matter at all actually? Of the people that use this form, probably on half of them are using IE, and how many of those are even going to use this "Copy to Form" to form feature, and on top of that, how many of this sub-section of users are going to use the copy to form feature without editing those textareas at all (just leaving them as is).

Also, he still has to confirm them, CH will see there are no line breaks in the form and will probably just think the user was being lazy and will go in and add the linebreaks himself.

Hmm

Well the problem would be that it give the wrong impression of how YF wants the data or that they might put in the line breaks manually then end up with double breaks.

Would it be possible to make the first autosave sooner and when that happens do a save/refresh?

Or the COPY is clicked do a browser check and if it's IE give a popup. when they clcik OK it does save/refresh?

It's not the end of the world but i would like to see some workaround
