Isolation by distance: I think this central concept of the paper should be described better. Does the analysis of the paper really show that the observed reassortment rate is a decreasing function of the amino acid distance between a segment and its reassorted counterpart? I think one problem is that a clear explanation is hidden behind bioinformatic specificities of the inference method, which is based on differences in times to the most recent common ancestor (TMRCA).

Addressed in e5285d1438947bd8ecf13871f4ac67acc9909d32 with the "species tree" analogy I think.
