Installation

The pattern library is a Jekyll & Patternbot based application, so it requires Ruby to be installed.

☛ Follow these instructions to get Ruby & Bundler installed

1. Navigate to the correct folder in Terminal. Use GitHub Desktop’s Repository > Open in Terminal command.
2. Type the following command bundle install

Starting the server

1. Navigate to the correct folder in Terminal. Use GitHub Desktop’s Repository > Open in Terminal command.
2. Type the following command: bundle exec jekyll serve
3. View the functional website at: http://localhost:4000
4. View the pattern library at: http://localhost:4000/pattern-library/

Project description & context

This project was aimed to be the creation of a complete website, specifically an eCommerce website. The pattern library was created in order to organize the content and the URL of each piece of content that can be taken and used together in an html file. The /index.html and /products.html file have been completed by the creator. The classmate is expected to complete the /checkout-form.html and the /_layouts/product.html using Jekyll. The /checkout-form.html can be navigated through pressing the cart button at the top-right corner of http://localhost:4000. The /_layouts/product.html can be navigated through pressing any essential oil card button chosen on http://localhost:4000/products/.

To extract a pattern from patternbot

1. Navigate to the correct folder in Terminal. Use GitHub Desktop’s Repository > Open in Terminal command.
2. Type the following command: bundle exec jekyll serve
3. View the pattern library at: http://localhost:4000/pattern-library/
4. Choose a category of patterns.
5. On the chosen pattern, open the link using </> icon.
6. Copy and paste that pattern into the html file.
