When searching for an app in Fleet, filter search by OS or even sort the "Type" column #14280

Problem

Today, the customer wants to have an easy way to search for apps under software to filter the search by OS to make it easier to see the versions used by hosts on different platforms like Windows, MacOS, etc.

When the customer is in this situation, they end up having to parse through several pages looking for the affected app and it becomes increasingly complex when there are different versions in Fleet

Potential solutions

  1. Fleet engineering recently discussed if using the current way of finding all hosts for the software (by hovering on a row) was at all compatible with the OS version of view all hosts. @RachelElysia has spoken with the customer as well about this issue.

Noah: What do they want to do after they filter by OS? Are they looking for a specific Type of app?

Noah: Adding sort to "Type" shouldn't be too tough but we need to validate that this solves the problem.
