Use Fleet Desktop on Firefox on Fedora Linux w/o installing gnome extension and Google Chrome #20675

Problem

Firefox is the default browser on Fedora Linux.

Today, in order to have Fleet Desktop appear on Fedora Linux, a gnome extension have to be installed.

Today, in order to have Fleet Desktop open the My device page in Firefox on Fedora Linux, Google Chrome has to be installed.

We want to make it so Fleet Desktop appears and opens Firefox w/o the end user having to install a gnome extension and Chrome.

prospect-redwine has Fedora 39 and 40 on Linux workstations.

Hey @dherder, I updated the issue description to match my understanding of the problem.

Let me know if it looks good.

I moved your original issue description here for safekeeping:

Problem

The requirement for Fleet desktop support is to install a 3rd party extension AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support. As an end user, if I'm installing Fleet Desktop, and I don't know that this extension is required, Fleet Desktop just doesn't appear for me.

The ask here is to deploy our own extension as a part of the Fleetd installer that allows for the Fleet Desktop to appear in Fedora 39-40 environments (prospect-redwine only has Fedora 39-40).
