• @mikermcneil: On logged in home page and host details page, make some way of viewing the queries powering vitals.
  • @mikermcneil: This could be as simple as adding an HTML <title> attribute w/ the query.
• @noahtalerman: We have osquery queries powering host vitals in the contributor docs here. Quick win would be pulling this into a guide so that users can find it when searching the docs. We could even find a good spot to link to this guide from the UI.

  • @allenhouchins: A helpful spot in the UI to link to this info would be in the spot that's showing the data. For example, hovering over "IP address" would bring you to the guide. Or even the spot in the guide for that query.

• Let's say right on this homepage:

• It'd be awesome if I could see the query for 'low disk space hosts,' or even how you're counting hosts by OS.

• So having a button somewhere, or perhaps a button to enable some kind of a query-view mode or something to be able to run all those queries myself would be amazing as a user

• On the flip side; would that cause folks to want to be able to modify these things in a way that would lead to potentially worse results from you as a product? not sure

• I'd also love it for the details/status areas. For instance, if my host is reporting private IP incorrectly can I just take a look at the query and go 'oh yea actually this is how I could get it instead'? image.png

• Then the users section -- 'woah I didn't expect this user, where is this data coming from?' these kinds of questions

• Making me think of the UI in Propellerhead Reason where you hit and it spins the rack around to show the wires.

• Blur any IP addresses, serial numbers, any sensitive information.
