Goal

Create the best user experience by creating a page specifically for people clicking ads, while also including "signup for demo" and passing that lead to salesforce

How

timmy-k commented 2 years ago

@mike-j-thomas I'm sure you've seen this but we'll need to collaborate. I've put this on both boards so we can do that.

The first two todos we'll probably do, and then we'll come to you tomorrow (ideally) or Monday for you to begin your part of the process

@timmy-k

Any wireframing that we'll be doing, I think I found a good spot for it here: https://www.figma.com/file/Jzo81K6E4jC0mcjD4JsWM8/?node-id=1702%3A5319

This is under the Fleet website scratchpad.

I've also made copies of the current platform and home page

Hey @timmy-k. Where are the ads currently pointing to? /platform is currently our strongest page content-wise. Design-wise is probably also more suitable for a land page.

@mike-j-thomas right now they're going to these three pages. Of course, they're not likely to drive sales opportunities.

I think the design above is actually pretty great to run with, especially if you have other important projects in your pipeline right now. It may make sense to alter the language some, but that can happen as a PR anytime after it's published. I'm still working out how we'll track lead source (https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/4997), but it may require a page for each ad network we're running in its most simple implementation.

FYI one of my top-level OKRs is to get more sales opportunities from organic traffic— https://github.com/fleetdm/fleet/issues/5006. That's due a little later, but that could be a great opportunity to work on the homepage and other relevant pages like it on the website. Happy to explain more about this in the office hours next week.

@mike-j-thomas one thing I'm noticing; do we have a phone number for sales? @alphabrevity can you answer this question?

It could be a good idea to add it the page. The scuttlebutt is that it can build trust, even if people don't really call it. Not required or super important right now, but for brainstorming purposes could be good to add.

timmy-k commented 2 years ago

@mike-j-thomas might be ideal if we noindex the page as well, FWIW, so we can silo where traffic goes to make sense of results. And then maybe we make the page /g or something, just so we can watch all the growth landing page traffic.

@timmy-k, thanks for jogging my memory. I'm adding some info here that you may, or may not be aware of. The original goals for the ads were:

/handbook/company - to show that Fleet is alive and thriving. Ad targeting folks searching Kolide Fleet because at the time we forked the Fleet repo, there was talk online about the Fleet project being abandoned after Kolide stopped maintaining it.

/queries - to give users searching osquery a valuable resource rather than just a land page advertising Fleet.

Fleetdm.com obviously pointing to our homepage. This could be a good opportunity to have an optimised land page.

@timmy-k, still catching up after my vacation and didn't realize that this OKR was due so soon (14th April). Let me know if you need help content-wise, and we can prioritize getting the page template above re-jigged. Chat to you more when we meet for office hours, but give me a shout on here for any a-sync requests 👍🏻

timmy-k commented 2 years ago

@mike-j-thomas we can talk content on the page at the office hours, the OKR seems completed to me as long as the page is live in the manner you mentioned above. And certainly it'll be a living thing and will get content edits over time.

Positioning doc is done as a rough draft, but I had one or two questions for you about personas and wanted to review with Andrew and Mike one more time before calling it revised, so I wouldn't wait on that.

@timmy-k, can you give @eashaw and I some more context around:

a way of handling the "signup for a demo" form that results in the MQO getting created into Salesforce

Does MQO mean minimum quantity order

@DrewBakerfdm, maybe you can give us some pointers about what that would look like from a Salesforce pov?

@CharlotteChance, you were so close!

@mike-j-thomas sorry for the delay here.

At this point we're not sure who said MQO first, but basically an MQO is a lead that enrichment has established is fitting to talk to sales (over 100 devices and 100 employees), hence marketing qualified, and has actually joined a call with sales, hence opportunity vs. lead or prospect.

mike-j-thomas commented 2 years ago

All yours @timmy-k. The page is available at https://fleetdm.com/landing.

Give @eashaw a shout and he can update the URL to whatever you need it to be. Let me know if you need my input on that at all?

timmy-k commented 2 years ago

@eashaw want to just change this from /landing to /g? That should work fine

timmy-k commented 2 years ago

@mike-j-thomas & @eashaw merged and can see the page on /g so I think that's everything we need. Closing this issue, but will add another for editing page copy to match positioning
