Google Code-in is an annual contest sponsored by Google, targeted to pre-university students aged 13-17 year olds, to foster an interest in developing for the open source community in them.
There exist five different types of tasks for Google Code-in:
FOSSASIA, established in 2009, is the top Free and Open Source technology event in Asia for developers, start-ups, and contributors. Projects at FOSSASIA range from open hardware to design, graphics and software.
FOSSASIA is a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) event for developers, officials and users from South-East Asia. Its main goal is to foster FOSS projects in Asia.
FOSSASIA is one of the few mentoring organizations during Google Code-In this year.
Remember : It is important that you complete a variety of tasks, but it is not enough to win just by completing the most tasks. Out of the top ten students, the finalists are picked based on the quality of their work - so you should finish your tasks as quickly as possible yet also make sure to submit a high quality work. During the process, help other participants out, engage in conversations and make friends. Most importantly, enjoy the process!
