The purpose of the code changes are as follows:

This version is a:

[ ] MINOR - when you add functionality in a backwards compatible manner
[ ] PATCH - when you make backwards compatible bug fixes or documentation/instructions

Do we need to do this? If you just create a new branch called main and set it to default, why do the merge?

No, we don't need to merge. Just need to set it default branch!
