Is it an alias? It's an attribute linking the well/water bore across to the water bore database. The numbers aren't historical as far as I know. They're still the current numbers.
As displayed in GeoResGlobe
Bore name | Type | Subtype | QWRC RN |
---|---|---|---|
MARMADUA 1 | WATER | SUPPLY BORE | 22354 |
I'm fine QWRC RN being an alias as it fits the definition of "an alternative name or label that refers to an item, and can be used to locate or access it". But can we simply change the field to QWRC_RN, or display it as such if the alias_source = QWRC_RN? For the borehole_alias_reason, I would just change it to Registration number for water bores from the Queensland Water Resource Commission. and remove the historical/temporal limitation.
@KellyVance - yes, on display this can show the QWRC_RN.
alias_reason looks good to me.
Do we want people using it to locate or access? It's just storing the link point for someone to be able to go and find more information in a different unlinked database.
Should it be 'Waterbore RN', rather than QWRC? Since it seems like the QWRC ended in 1992 http://www.archivessearch.qld.gov.au/search/AgencyDetails.aspx?AgencyId=1675
As the QWRC RN is an alias, this should be recorded in the borehole alias table, i.e.:
