I thought we needed a place to just shoot the crap, ask random stuff, etc.

This issue will never be closed and I'm expecting it to get rather long. :)

Unless you're using Github notifications or sorting your issues by "Updated" rather than "Submitted" this issue will probably fall below page 1 very quickly.

Hopefully that will keep the noise to a minimum.

Ah, ok. So if I would replace the original AppIconMask (I'm talking about the version in /System/Library/...) with that transparent pixel then I might have luck?

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

If you've already removed/renamed it then no, probably not. There's probably something else going on.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

What iPhone do you have?

dreamnet commented 11 years ago

@iprecious You sayed you have made you own custom Glasklart Icons folder, so I assume you have disabled the Glasklart Icons.theme. In that case, make sure you have a folder named com.apple.mobileicons.framework in you custom icons theme witch contains this files. Maybe this helps you.

cr0w-69 commented 11 years ago

Hey sorry that i havent been online in a while ive been in the hospital but im ok now and im ready to make new icons

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

@cr0w-69 It's good that you're OK from whatever it was! :+1:

rentiak commented 11 years ago

@glasklart/maintainers can I get feedback on some icon submissions that dont seem to have been accepted?

989 - too busy?

1391 - too far of a departure from the original art?

iprecious commented 11 years ago

Sorry for the late reply, was away from home all day and forgot to sync the 1Password data.

It's an iPad2 and an iP4. The folder dreamnet suggested I have included, even a modified version which includes all the files for all iPhones and iPads :-)

But obviously it doesnt work any more.

My main problem is: I've run out of ideas.

My understanding so far: We've got an AppIconMask. What this one does is the followiEnach icon hast several layers: The shadow, the something, the mask. On top comes the actual icon. The three original layers can be replaced with new ones by using the framework folder.

Am I correct so far or do I see that too simple? If yes: How DOES it work? Again: I LOVE to read, to understand but so far I havent been able to :-(

All the best and thanks again for the quick responses in here!!!

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

We need someone with an iPhone 5 to give us a hand with some file names. Can anyone help out?

BrianMitchL commented 11 years ago

I can help out, which files?

ivanov007 commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner I can too

alldayremix commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner I posted three of them here: https://github.com/glasklart/hd/issues/1475#issuecomment-15628300 , what others do you need?

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

Thanks all, looks like @alldayremix posted the ones I think we'll need for now. I might ping you about more of them later.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

All, I'm adding @MagnaMike to the @glasklart/maintainers list. He has been around for months triaging issues, contributing like crazy to the various parts of the themes and now he's even contributed a load of icons.

@MagnaMike will be joining @dreamnet, @vinstic, @scottbuckley and myself.

Help me in congratulating Mike on such a fantastic job! :birthday:

BrianMitchL commented 11 years ago

Woo! Thanks @MagnaMike and all of the other contributors!

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

We're down to TWELVE (12) unfulfilled icons!! Can we get them all done before the release this weekend!?!?

I think we can! Let's do it!

nekholm commented 11 years ago

Congrats @MagnaMike, now fulfill those requests!

Why only 10 requests/week though? I need my icons now!

dreamnet commented 11 years ago

@MagnaMike WELCOME!!!!:flushed::satisfied::clap::gift::cake::bangbang:.... (running out of emojis...)....

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

Crazy, I go to bed with an empty email inbox and then I wake up with 35-40 emails. I'm like, "what did I do?!". Then I saw the email that said Github automatically subscribed me for email notifications to all issues since I'm now a maintainer, no wonder I had so many emails  Anyway thanks @jfelchner!

ivanov007 commented 11 years ago

@MagnaMike great keep it up

ivanov007 commented 11 years ago

@vinstic yeah that will be nice, I have closed some of my own by mistake too

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

With regards to the 12 requests left... We are up to 14 now  They don't stop

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

Nevermind, down to 10

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@vinstic @ivanov007 no way to do that. :frowning: I wish there was.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@MagnaMike Gmail filters are your friend :grinning:

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@nekholm 10 requests per week isn't going away any time soon so don't hold your breath. :grinning:

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner Yes, I set a filter up shortly after!

dreamnet commented 11 years ago

Pushed the last 10 to-do icons to the front (sort by updated).... ony 5 more to reach 100 acceptably-fulfilled for the next release.

nekholm commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner no worries, I only need 25 more icons after the next update, I guess I can wait a couple more weeks.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@dreamnet how up-to-date is your zip file from your site? If I pull it over and overwrite stuff will the icons be correct or will they be overwritten with older versions of the icons?

dreamnet commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner 100% up to date. If you look at the right bottom you see the time the zip files was last updated (GTM +0). If you are overwriting the files they should be correct.

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

From now on, should we temporarily close out issues if they are someones 11th, 12th, 13th...34th icon request in a week? (And ask the issue creator to remind us to open it again in a week). Otherwise the 10 requests a week limit is pointless if nothing happens when someone goes over..

gav-fyi commented 11 years ago

Hi, first I would like to apologise for the number of icon requests I made this morning (34 I think was the count). I wasn't checking my notifications, and just kept hitting 'New Issue' without realising there was a 10 icon limit.

Secondly, I would just like to say thanks, and great job to all who helped fulfil the requests. I was hearing the new email sound quicker than I could submit new icons.

I look forward to the next release, to make sure I've not made any icon name errors.

Thanks again!

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

Well @Scalamoosh You're not the first to do so, but hopefully the last. The rule has never been advertised as much as it could and people would really only find out about it after they had broken it, like you. Hopefully with my changes to the request wiki page, people will learn the rule since a banner is much much much more visible then the small line of text which I can understand can easily be missed. So no problem, don't let it happen again  and hopefully the changes I've made will prevent others from doing it in the future!

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@MagnaMike exactly. @Scalamoosh your icons over the ones that have been fulfilled will be closed. After 7 days, all you have to do is reopen 10 of those closed issues.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@Scalamoosh you're lucky our contributors are so awesome. They got them almost all fulfilled before I could close all of the ones that were over the limit. Just don't do it again.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@bman4789 @ivanov007 @alldayremix

@Tr1pTr0p needs some help getting the dialer theme working on iPhone 5 over on #73. Any help you can give him would be very much appreciated.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

All, sorry for all the posts, just trying to get this release out... can we try to close out #1776 and #1935?

They've been hanging around for a while and I'd like to get em out of our hair.

MagnaMike commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner Sorry don't have time right now to do a fair attempt at them

glasklartFan93 commented 11 years ago

How can I add new icons to the theme on my iPhone? Do I just wait for an update? The ones I want have already been fulfilled a few minutes ago.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@glasklartFan93 just wait for the update.

BrianMitchL commented 11 years ago

@jfelchner @Youppi3 To answer your question from a month ago, icons that are downloading are not themed because their icons are temporarily stored in /var/mobile/Library/SpringBoard/DownloadingIconImageCache when they're downloading from the AppStore. They don't have a folder for a bundle ID to be themed with until the download is complete.

BenChaimberg commented 11 years ago

@bman4789 Possibly Winterboard could provide a fix for this, temporarily disabling that feature. It seems to be out of our hands though.

BrianMitchL commented 11 years ago

@Youppi3 There may be a way to link to that folder (I don't know enough about Winterboard) but each of the 7000 app icons would need to be in the theme again, this doubling the size for a feature that is only used for a very short period of time.

BenChaimberg commented 11 years ago

@bman4789 The other problem is that the names for the icons are a randomly generated hex value (correct me if I'm wrong) so we would never be able to predict what the name is properly.

nekholm commented 11 years ago

@glasklartFan93 if you don't want to wait for the update, you can manually add the icons using this guide: https://github.com/glasklart/hd/wiki/How-to-manually-add-icons

BrianMitchL commented 11 years ago

@Youppi3 Yeah, that sounds right. So, overall, it just isn't something that can really be done.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

Thanks for the thorough explanation @bman4789. And I think you're right... definitely not worth the work.

dreamnet commented 11 years ago

@vinstic Good thought :+1:, If I can find the time I will dig into the API of github and look what's possible.

jfelchner commented 11 years ago

@vinstic holy crap that's a GREAT idea!! :fireworks:
