Technical Guide

BETA / TESTING: Not production ready

Requirements

x32 Systems might be (depending on demand) supported at a later stage. This guide only functions for Windows x64 Systems.

Warnings

This guide removes all encryption keys and formats the data on the drive, subsequent recovery of data will be difficult to impossible.

Guide

Prepare BIOS / UEFI

  1. Access the BIOS using following shortcut(s) applicable to your system: Following shortcuts provide access to BIOS

  1. Configure following settings

    • Activate Secure Boot
    • Clear TPM / Encryption or Security Chip
    • Enable All Intel Virtualisation Technologies
    • Boot from Network
    • Save and Reboot
  2. Enter Network Install Boot from Network by choosing PXE or Network boot.

  3. Select the appropriate Installation Profile (Attention: most times the generic installation without drivers should work, if the installation does not complete switch to a manufacturer profile).

  4. Set a local Administrator Password like "gms" (without quotation marks), the password will be reset during "sysprep /generalize".

Known MDT / WDS / ADK Issues

Old Systems fail to identify UEFI / BIOS

State: Solution Found (Workaround) Issue: Some old systems fail to identify the correct version of the BIOS / UEFI. In this case a particular script needs to implemented just for that device. Raise a ticket if you are experiencing following error message: FAILURE (5616): 15299: Verify BCFBootEx (see screenshot below). image Solution: Contact admin to implement fix.

No PreInstallable Samsung Client

State: Work in Progress Issue: Samsung does not provide an executable to install the Samsung Client. Solution Strategy: Create an installable binary from Windows Store Gallery
