503 service unavailable #413

Hi,

I'm getting a 503 error message as shown below whenever I try to access either of my two websites.

"Service Unavailable. The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later."

I called my Host provider (GoDaddy.com) and they assured me that the problem wasn't on their end. They pointed out that the processors were running PHP scripting in WordPress that was using up a huge amount of memory as shown in the attached screenshot and advised that I should clear these processes as a temporary fix. However, as soon as I clear one batch, along comes another.

I've had access issues on multiple devices (laptop, iMac, iPhone), in multiple locations (London and Dublin) and others have also had access issues so I don't think this is an ISP issue.

I'm running the Stock Photography theme with the Sell Media plugin for my website www.colincafferty.com and I've got the Reportage theme running my www.climatechangecafe.com website.

Can you please urgently help me on this issue? I first noticed this issue about 5 days ago and it's been coming and going. But this morning, I've been unable to access either website.

Thanks

Both of your sites load for me, I would press on GoDaddy to give you a concrete response as to what is causing the high memory usage.

Somethings you can do to narrow down the problem:

  1. Disable all plugins
  2. Revert to the default WordPress theme 2012
  3. Visit your site
  4. Visit your GoDaddy memory usage page
  5. Enable one plugin

Do that for each plugin and try and narrow it down to what is causing the issue, you can also check your PHP error logs, which GoDaddy should be able to help you with.

Aside from that you'll want to handle all hosting related issues with your web hosting provider.
