It's probably a FLTK implementation bug interacting with the Fl_Cairo_Window that we are subclassing. It will take more investigation to be sure. I might have to report the bug to their developers to get it fixed. Works, as typical, like a charm on Linux OS.

Fixed in RNAStructViz v1.8.1-testing (new brew formula available).
