[ ] #320: For context, RP020 needs to be completed so we can talk to Hack for LA website team members as soon as possible before they leave or don't remember their interactions with the interns.
[ ] #147: RP003 also needs to be completed so the org can provide guidance for asking for recommendation on LinkedIn. We can reach out to HfLA members to determine how and why they received LinkedIn recommendation, and vice versa.

Recruitment is underway

RP020 can be challenging since it has been over 6 months since HfLA website team member interacted with the interns so it would affect their recall despite providing any with pull request reviews they have done. Need to check with Bonnie and Sara on the background and if we have reached out already.
RP003's goal is to provide guidance for HfLA team members to ask for LinkedIn recommendation, but what is the big picture of the study? Also, need to pay attention to all the biases potentially introduced to the study.

Angela is actively working on the EasyRetro clean up issue, and will finish next week. No blocker so far.
Brian made a lot of progress on the research plan 020, but some components are missing due to the lack of templates. Will propose to Bonnie to use RP020 to test out the templates.
Dewey created a spreadsheet to track what research plan can potentially address which factor that affects STEM involvement and retention. Will check in with Bonnie on the spreadsheet to see if it serves the purpose
Drew finished the Wiki page update for RP019 issue. RP019 has no detailed research roadmap or research plan drafted. Should we close it or put it back to the icebox?
Jiah was working on recruitment issue, however Bonnie thought it was better to focus on the recruitment for RP020 for now since we have very different recruitment approaches for interns, mentors, and other HfLA volunteers. Not time to standardize the recruitment process yet.
Nino is working on wiki page update for RP018, and she needs more clarification on how to navigate and update content on Github. UX team took the opportunity to show everyone how to update the wiki page, which is an important deliverable for most issues.
Asad didn't have access to Internship's private Google Drive, will ask admin to provide access. UX lead provided 2022's intern interview roll call and session tables.

Dewey: Actively working on the issue, and making changes to the spreadsheet he started. No blocker.
Asad: Actively working on the issue, and identified there might be misplaced video recordings. The RP012's folder has intern # 5 and # 8 missing, but he found them somewhere else in the drive. He will make an update in the issue so we can move the missing recordings to the correct folder.
Brian: Blocker: Research objectives and KPIs are unclear due to the roadmap details are not completed. However, the research plan doc has research questions and goals listed. Due to the urgency, should we keeping drafting interview script and finalize research plan without the research objectives and KPIs listed? We probably can base them on the research questions and goals listed. Or should we work on roadmap doc first? Need to check in with Bonnie.
Nino: Blocker: Wasn't sure how to create a new issue from the issue she was working on. The team went over the process and learned how to create a new issue from a template, including the template structure, what to do to get the issue ready for approval, Find/Replace texts using text editor, etc. #377 is the issue created from the demo.
Drew: Created a new issue #375 based on the instructions and completed the rest of the tasks assigned. He is working on some minor edits to get the issue ready for new issue approval.
Jiah: Assigned Jiah to work on the timeline issue since research plan, recruitment and other planning stuff is dependent on it.
Angela: ETA for finishing editing the Q&A document is before next week. She will make an update on the issue.

RP020's roadmap details document needs to be updated: i.e. timeline, research objectives
RP020 research plan's KPI needs to be reflected in the goals section in the roadmap document.
RP021's wiki page/research structure (issue #294) needs to be put back into icebox because the research plan is not currently being worked on and the team noticed there were dependencies related to the issue
Research plan and goals chart for HfLA volunteers is done. However, the team would like more context on the reasons why the day and frequency need to be included. It might make more sense not to include the day and frequency due to 1). the inconsistency and lack of bandwidth based on past weekly survey not fulfilled, 2). not having to update the chart later, 3). lack of day/date information at the planning phase since the chart is provided to participants or participants' guardians during the consent phase and we might not know the exact day/date to conduct a study yet.

Transcript issue is time consuming, we need to figure out how long it takes to do one transcript. We also need to decide which approach is more efficient (one person does all the transcripts, or assign different people to work on different transcripts).
Drew is working on the transcript issue right now, and he will provide an estimate when he is done with the first transcript.
The transcript template so far has been working, no problems have been identified.
Jessie's 1Password invite expired, need another invite.

RP001's video needs feedback for co-lead and project lead, and needs to add the section that makes a copy so other team members can't revert all the changes to reveal PII.
When reviewing RP001's existing deck and data analysis, team members had concerns regarding the methodology used. Need to when we re-analyzed the data.
- All RP001 transcript needs to be de-identified first before doing any data analysis.
RP004's lit review issue: the deliverable for the discoverable factors and lit review issue is to make a deck showing the factors and also list stats from our own research to show the impact of RP004. However, we need to re-analyze RP001's data and analyze other RP's data if we need to pull quotes and stats from our own research into the final deck. So we will review next steps when the peer review is finished and decided whether it is time to start RP004's planning or not.

The discrepentancy of the transcripts can be reduced by following the instructions and guidelines we have set up, not unavoidable because each assignee have various levels of skills, experience, and different interpretations of the transcripts.
Not possible to have 100% clean transcripts because different people have differnt standards regarding the cleanliness.
- For example, is "so" a verbal filler? It depends on the scenario.
Verbal fillers: Removing redundant or repeated verbal fillers so the transcripts are easier to read. However, some interviewee's communication style involves a lot of verbal fillers used throughout the conversation. Is it necessary to remove all the verbal filler? Should the transcript stay true to the communication style of the interviewee?
- Verbal fillers don't affect the outcomes and validity of the research. We can keep them in the transcripts for now unless they affect the readability (redundancy, repeatedness). When needed for quotes for research analysis or presentation, we can decide to keep them or not.
The use of brackets: [ ] can be used to indicate a word can be omitted, a mistake the interviewer/interviewee made when talking, or missing information.
- PM thought the use of brackets has brought more attention to the word within the bracket, which is causing the opposite effects of omission, which was intended. So, we will remove the brackets in the transcripts to not draw attention to the verbal filler words, such as "like".
The next steps for case study checklist will be discussed after RQA checklist's review is done.

Consistency among transcripts: We can ensure the structure of the transcripts stay the same, but the content of the transcript will have different degrees of variability due to the nature of qualitative research. We can provide instructions and resources to encourage the consistency of the transcripts, however, the deliverables could vary a lot given the interviewee's communication style and the person's level of detail when doing transcript.
Transcripts are taking longer because it needs a block of time to go through the transcripts
