In the repair menu, there will be a button to buy an upgrade to the cannons, giving them a different type of cannonball.

Types of Upgrades

Hardened Glue - increases break force required to detach the fixed joints
Cannon Reload Speed - Upgrading this decreases global cooldown of shooting the cannons
