Hello, When I create my first profile (FENIX, for PFD, ND, ECAM's & EFB), it works perfectly, but unfortunately when I quit your App and come back in the app, my profile is lost. I've noticed that the app should create a folder "MSFS POP OUT MANAGER" in "DOCUMENTS" folder but this operation fails. I'm using Microsoft OneDrive and my "DOCUMENTS" Folder is in the following path : "C:\Users\jpcpu\OneDrive\Documents". Hope you'll find a way to solve.

Thank You !

Please try running POPM as administrator. Somehow, Windows is blocking POPM from writing files on your system.

Hi,

I am not 100% sure what could be causing your issue. I am currently on vacation/holiday for the next 3 weels and won’t have access to my PC. But I will investigate your issue once I get back home.

Hi Stan,

Expecting to be able to use PopoutPanelManager. Did you investigate my issue ? May I suggest that the user could have the option to choose the directory for the files when installing POPM ? Thanks in advance !

I'm thinking OneDrive must be blocking file write access when it is replicating file to the cloud. POPM is constantly saving file (autosave for preference and profile change) and that's probably why it failed. So, I have to add a preference option to allow data file to another directory (such as user Windows roaming data folder which is always local to the machine) in the next release.

Pilote45160 commented 7 months ago

Thank you Stanley,

Yes, that would be really great ! Waiting for your next release, please let me know. Thank you so much much !

Hi Pilote45160,

I didn't forget about your issue but I'm trying to find time and work on this particular problem. My initial code implementation did not work since it breaks a lot of existing user's data files. The problem I'm running into is a chicken and egg problem. Configuring data file location will change how POPM read the setting and knows "the data location has been changed (different folder)". Usually this type of settings get store in Windows registry but I still want to keep all POPM setting in a data file and not write anything into windows so users can easily uninstall POPM if necessary.

I'll keep you up-to-date on my progress. But my latest possible solution is having default setting to save POPM data (in Documents folder) which does not work for you, and a folder override setting for your use. I'll implement it and see if it will work correctly in all cases.

Hi Jean-Paul,

I'm really sorry that I didn't really get to work on POPM for the last couple months. I've implemented an option in preference/general settings to allow saving of profiles data in your application data folder in Windows which shouldn't be controlled by OneDrive. Hopefully, this will fix your issue. I'm doing final testing and will have a release in the next couple days.
