add legend or manual / help #20

Closed KonradHoeffner closed 7 months ago

Very small legend, e.g. on the bottom to tell users what to do.

KonradHoeffner commented 7 months ago

Could also be popups, to be as unintrusive as possible.

KonradHoeffner commented 7 months ago

Maybe just create a manual / help page for now.

Yagnap commented 7 months ago

Also need to add indication when no paths found

KonradHoeffner commented 7 months ago

Yeah this could be a temporary notification. In SNIK Graph we use notyf for that, so we could use that again. @Yagnap: Can you investigate (just a few minutes is enough) is there is a clear better alternative to notyf now?

Yagnap commented 7 months ago

I didn't find anything better, found one site listing a few alternatives, but I think that notyf looks the best and I didn't see the advantages of the other options listed

KonradHoeffner commented 7 months ago

@Yagnap: Looks great but is not inclusive! Left handers like me have the mouse buttons on the other sides. People on touchpads or mobile may also have other ways to trigger the context menu event, e.g. on my Samsung S9+ Android phone I can trigger it as "taphold" (tap and hold the finger).

The idea to have in in the table place and replace is later is really good by the way!

Also we should restructure README.md now that it also functions as a help document. Currently, developer instructions are at the top, but user help should go there and dev instructions further down.

Yagnap commented 7 months ago

I think that a real help document (maybe markdown & on GitHub, or just HTML on the site) would be better, so the README.md stays as a quick overview & developer instructions.

Also reworded the message in 5f5897e

I mainly wanted to link to the repository somewhere so that it's linked at all
