multiple identifiers in scientificNameID #8

@albenson-usgs Arctos is wondering what will happen if multiple identifiers are included in scientificNameID? Will OBIS be able to parse out the WoRMS LSID if more than one is included? Will this cause issues for OBIS processing?

Hey @pieterprovoost if you are back and working already, can you perhaps have a look at this issue? The other thing that comes to my mind is, if what the taxon is referring to change, will all of the multiple identifiers still point to the right thing if they are filled in in 1 field?

I am wondering if it is possible to let WoRMS handle the mapping of multiple identifiers (Aphia to/from NCBI, ITIS etc) using their web services (AphiaRecordByExternalID or AphiaExternalIDByAphiaID) instead?

I feel like this will be an issue as now datasets that come to OBIS does not have to go through OBIS nodes anymore. It’s difficult to ask the data provider to use WoRMS LSID in scientificNameID when it is not the norm for them. Is there flexibility that can be provided from OBIS?
