Only fixable via core shaders in Minecraft 1.17+ via 45b77bd84fa2d6a951dee5baaf015483606bb184 if NOT using 3rd-party shaders like Iris or OptiFine. In these cases you need a mod to patch loading.
Furthermore, transparent texture fixes don't address the sides of things like paintings, see below, which creates it's own set of issues. Again, paintings use an inbuilt/generated model... which we cannot override with a custom one. Would have made paintings into semi-3d objects or something.
