I am still wondering which one is the correct expression, so I asked a question on stackexchange: http://english.stackexchange.com/q/110801/14487

:D I googled for both expressions and only the one with »on« seems common. And also one comment on your Stackexchange question helped me to understand why I make the mistake: »You crash parties, but you crash on couches.«
