This is the downstream scan, which can only be disabled from the privileged console. See if you've got a su
command, and try brcm
as the password. If this succeeds, you can disable the scan using either of these two commands:
CM> /cm_hal/scan_stop
CM> /docsis_ctl/scan_stop
The newer versions of bcm2dump
try to automate this, but please run bcm2dump
with -L log.txt
, and make sure to use the latest commits, not version 0.9.4 (which is outdated, but I won't be able to upload a new release until later this week).
Thanks! There is su indeed and brcm is the password. I tried to use bcm2dump but it ended at around 6% with an error (I don't remember what exactly the error was) but It might be related to the timeout for the telnet. Is there any method to disable this? I have set it to 30 seconds but planning to set it to around 1hour
I was able to stop the scan and prevent the log from bombarding me.
Edit: I forgot to run it with logging! Will try next time , currently need the Wi-Fi prob will try at noon.
Yep , it was indeed the timeout changing it to one hour did work. The entire flash is 64MB so dumping it will take 5HOURS! Any method to increase speed? or is it a Broadcom limitation?
Which timeout exactly are you referring to? You could try speeding it up using -O bfc:flash_readsize=0x2000
, but depending on the device this may not work as expected.

Telnet portal timeout
I was able to enable telnet on a SkyWorth router (ISP provided) by using a modified config file and remove the coax cable. I got into Telnet and got BOMBARDED with some kind of log? here is the "log".
Connecting coax will immediately disable this telnet port I had opened , it is possible to type commands but most of them just keep showing the help menu (Which has most things compiled out)
Then I tried to get a dump using bcm2dump...
The command I used was: bcm2dump dump 192.168.1.1,admin,changed flash image1 image.bin and I get an error similar to (I couldn't find the error , but I did remember the command) telnet: Send failed pipe broken
What does this mean? Anyway to stop the log from bombarding me?
