Section 2.1.b.iv of the TCK license for JSR 356 prohibits the licensee from "develop[ing] other test suites intended to validate compatibility with the Java Specification(s) to which the TCK(s) licensed hereunder corresponds." As written, this appears to prohibit licensees from developing their own internal tests for compatibility supplement tests in the TCK.

This would be a huge step for the community to step up and include tests where the TCK falls short, or provide some other supplements for common use cases that come up with may not be covered in the TCK which would allow for a vendor migration test suite. Such a suite would be a very important tool for users.

JSR 356 went Final, so @patrick, could we close this or is there a reason to keep it open?
