Adding lethal 5 to fighter B should not result and worse outcomes for fighter B. See pics.
If I remove any of {relentless, storm shield, stun, brutal}, then adding lethal to B did the expected thing of helping B. I was also able to reproduce with strategies of parry and strike.
So, yikes, I'd have to find the right dice outcome for where all these things coming together lead to a suboptimal die resolution choice; that's my guess; there could be some bug in actually resolving dice, but it's more likely the choice logic is not perfect
