As a developer who runs Linux exclusively but codes cross-platform apps, I
would love to see a GE plugin for Linux. Right now the lack of Linux support is
the only thing keeping me away.

They still plan a linux version in future, but it doesn't sound like they are
really interested in communicating with us. At least if someone of them had
given a "more useful" comment here, we could keep confidence in Google.

Is there any movement on this? The public obviously wants this (compared to
other open items in the tracker), yet I feel the issue is falling into a black
hole. SOME feedback would be nice :)

GoogleEarth plugin is a great platform for technical applications. Technical
users demand Linux. A Linux plugin will increase the available applications for
Earth. Bike paths and coffee shops are great; but for developers to invest,
think railroad tracks and wind power.

I work for a Google Enterprise Partner, and we develop applications off of the
Google Earth plugin. It's absolutely atrocious that we can't run our
browser-based applications on Linux boxes, even though we develop them on
Ubuntu and our Google Earth server is Ubuntu. How embarrassing.
