Wandering trader farm not working

I made a wandering trader farm and idk why its not working. Theoretically the wandering traders should go through a portal and stay in the nether, unloaded, and shouldnt despawn. However i've seen more than once the llamas on the overworld side but no traders on the nether side

im just dumb, they were invisible inside of the portal fram. Pretty damn hard to spot the freaking guy
