Great fun until "Wandering Trader" #92

Along with a few others I got into this via @ilmango great series, Not as tech as @ilmango, so while he pointed the way, I was able to adapt ideas and concepts and was a little more manual in my approach.

It was great to reach the point I did, but for two weeks I have been trying to get sugar cane and dripstone from the trader, and nothing. I am averaging about four or five traders a day but I have thrown the towel in.

I don't know the rng, and how unlucky I was but it stopped being fun.

Sorry. I don't want to add another way to get something that is already obtainable in vanilla, although you can definitely do it with datapacks or other mods. I know the trader can be annoying, so there are mod settings that allow you to increase the rate of the wandering trader spawning.

wanderingTraderSpawnRate can be lowered to try to spawn them more often. maxWanderingTraderSpawnChance can be increased so that the trader always spawns after a certain amount of time, instead of being capped to a 7.5% chance per day.

fair enough. Thanks for the reply and the mod.

You can change the settings using the /carpetskyadditions command. Something like /carpetskyadditions setDefault wanderingTraderSpawnRate 6000 if you want them to spawn 4 times faster. If you have commands unavailable, you can add lines to carpetskyadditions.conf in your world folder.

By default, I want to leave things as vanilla as possible, but in the future I might add alternative ways to get things that you currently have to get from the trader for people who want to enable them. Except for oak/dark oak saplings when you start with acacia trees, nothing from the trader is absolutely necessary for progression currently. I could be wrong but I think it's possible to beat the Ender Dragon, even get an Elytra without doing a single trade with the Wandering Trader.

Thank you very much, I'll try these commands and I'll tell you, if I see that I can't do it, I'll keep asking haha. I don't know if a villager with the cartographer profession can be configured to sell you maps with more locations, such as the outpost or different biomes. I haven't found any Taiga yet and look what I'm looking for. The truth is that it would be a great help and would give the cartographer something more useful, which is generally not very useful.
