Consider styling the fringe the same color as the rest of the window #13

I think this produces a cleaner, more attractive look.

Yes, why not, it could make the look more consistent. The only thing in your pull request is that there are now two backgrounds attribute for the fringe element : could you please modify it by deleting the old one ?
