It is not a fair comparison to look at individual ingredients of off-campus groceries vs fully prepped meals at on-campus food establishments. Especially when giving a final diet recommendation, much of the overall health of the meal comes from how the food is prepped.

It's important to mention that we excluded students who can afford to go out to eat at restaraunts off campus, as well as excluded campus dinings halls since they would be complicated to price for buffet-style cafeteria. The overall goal of ours was to compare the minimum cost diets particularly for Berkeley students who depend on on-campus food options versus Berkeley students who have the time and accessibility to cook meals from scratch (with ingredients found at grocery stores which are obviously off-campus.
