PCB orders and status #8

Open eabase opened 1 year ago

eabase commented 1 year ago

I would love to order a PCB with all the components already included and placed.

  1. What is the current design status of PCB?
  2. From where can we order these PCB's?
  3. Can they get both made and populated?
bobzer commented 9 months ago

What ESP chipset did you decide on?

I didn't choose I just use the default bom, but in the details i can see the exact version is : ESP32-S3R8

Just wondering. That's what was on my BoM as well and will probably be the best chipset. Not sure if it's possible but it might be worth it to see if one can be made with an olimex PoE chip as well so that all the serial functions are directly transferred via Ethernet instead of relying on WiFi to make the connection. This should allow better use cases if Bluetooth needed to be ran on the same box. From mt expirence at least with the lower power ESP32 WROOM, there's really not enough power or memory to run both wifi and Bluetooth button mention the rest of the code.

don86nl commented 9 months ago

No problem, @LordNex . Thanks for the additional tips and info. I might reach out if I need some more technical help. Im no electrician, just a hobbiest 😅.

Olease keep us updated, @bobzer . I have gen1's, but would need to get gen2's when I place the order. Would be nice if those could work too.

Hello :)

Just a quick question about the group Order. Is it still planned or is it already done and I missed something ? I didn't followed everything and the last comment about the group Order was by you don86nl asking a deposit before January 7th...

I'm too late I guess :/

Uriziel01 commented 9 months ago

@K3kouse Thats right, for the time being @don86nl already did a group by for EU users, you'll have to wait for another one.

I gave up on my USA order. Couldn't get enough people to commit and I'm leary of buying 5 just for myself to find out that they won't do what I'm looking for or fit right or something. I haven't been too impressed with HA's voice pipeline even after adding in ChatGPT. And then your, I could be wrong, but just a voice assistant and no longer a media player as well. I've done some testing just with my Muse Luxe and it's very problematic at best.

Unfortunately, I think keeping the Google integrations in with a Nabu Casa subscription the easiest at the moment. The Google pucks I'm using I assume are v2, and are still working for the most part with Google HA integration. Plus I have a Lenovo Google Display for my living room so I wouldn't be able to completely drop Google unless I could build a new PCB for it. At least this way Home Assistant is still in charge of things but I can also use them as Music players

On a side note I don't know if they are, but you might look into Music Assistant support for Onju as it's my defaco media player and I wouldn't be supprized if it isn't adopted by them officially

don86nl commented 9 months ago

Yes, Europe order has been placed and are under construction at this moment.

I agree that the assist pipeline is somewhat limited. However, we barely use google anymorw besides some basic commands I might be able to create. For example, I created a goodnight routine which I also send in the voice assisnt contest. I will look into timers and alarms again and then 99% of google's commanda are replaced. I do have to look into music playback, but I might use other, better speakers for that anyway.

Nydid commented 8 months ago

Guess i'll have to wait for the next EU Groupbuy.

virusmoere commented 8 months ago

I have 5pcbs spare without assembly (to dumb to order) . If anyone has the skill to solder them feel free to write me a message ;) (Location Germany)

bobzer commented 8 months ago

@don86nl I am partially successfull ... so the mic, mute button and speaker works but the touch button (volume up and down and action) don't works. About the leds, the 4 on the middle works perfectly but the 2 on the side are not on the correct side of the pcb so there are not visible.

Thanks for the update, @bobzer . Did tou have to modify anything to get it to work as it does right now? Those limitations are fine by me.

bobzer commented 8 months ago

yes, I had to solder cable and modify a little bit the board (understand drill to make the hole bigger) sorry the picture are note really good but can help to get an idea image image (the white cable is for the mute)

also no picture but i had to dremel cut a little bit the metal part that is between the speaker and the board (if you are still willing to do it I can open it back to take picture) and then isolate that metal (some tape)

bobzer commented 8 months ago

by the way if someone want some pcb I got 4 to sell 45 CAD + shipping i'm in canada

If the PCBs you have will fit in a 2nd gen mini then I'll buy one.

bobzer commented 8 months ago

All the pcb are the one from this project (so the nest mini 2nd gen and not the google home mini 1st gen) I also have an empty pcb if someone can be interested for that (by empty i mean without any component)

Hi don86nl, do you have an update for the order? Did I miss something?

don86nl commented 5 months ago

Hi don86nl, do you have an update for the order? Did I miss something?

This order was placed somewhere in january. All participants received their item.

For future reference; It was a bit costier than expected, due to income tax. One unit will cost nearly 60 euro's (assembly, shipping and import taxes).

PlanetSmasher commented 5 months ago

Oh I thought I was included as my nick is in the spreadsheet. well then I will hope there will be another round for germany / europe

Sorry, I posted my email to reply to. The list was made by someone else. Hope you can do another group order. So far, the onju is performing quite well.

MarcusAlbon commented 4 months ago

Hi all,

I too am waiting for more to make a purchase, I need 2 PCB pieces already assembled (Italy)

Willi1206 commented 4 months ago

Soooo i see, i can easily place an order and the other pcb's are sold very fast. :D I will take a look if it will make any problems if i order more than 5 pcb's.

Willi1206 commented 4 months ago

So Guys... i have ordered 10 PCB assembled. We took 4 Pieces of it so we have 6 for sale.

Hi, I'm available to buy 2 (Italy). How can I contact you? my email : bicycle.winners_0e@icloud.com

Nephiel commented 4 months ago

I would like 1 if possible (Spain).

Thomansky commented 4 months ago

Hi, I'm available to buy 2 (Germany). How can I contact you? And what does it cost?

TheZoker commented 4 months ago

I would also be interested in buying 1 (Germany).

PlanetSmasher commented 4 months ago

I would like 2 aswell I played with the calculator from pcbway and have received a quote. It looks like buying 5 is cheaper per unit instead of buying more. Playing with the online tool shows as the part costs for 5 pieces would be around 155€

So my calculation would be like this:

Product Name & Details price
PCB costs including assembly and shipping: ~155€
Import tax to Germany (85340090): 0€
VAT (Einfuhrumsatzsteuer): ~30€
SUM: 185 €
per unit: ~37€

You sure there isn't import tax? I bought some as part of a group buy (Netherlands) and that was taxed.

PlanetSmasher commented 4 months ago

Sorry I think I got a wording issue here, taxes (Steuern) were present as I declared in VAT but with Import Taxes I meant customs (Zoll). my bad, sorry for that irritation

I do not know exactly if there is any in germany, but it cannot find specific HS codes that imply them.

I searched here: https://www.tariffnumber.com/2024/85340011 and via taric (EU Tax DB)

https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/taric/measures.jsp?Lang=en&SimDate=20240618&Area=CN&MeasType=&StartPub=&EndPub=&MeasText=&GoodsText=&op=&Taric=8534001100&AdditionalCode=&search_text=goods&textSearch=&LangDescr=en&OrderNum=&Regulation=&measStartDat=&measEndDat=&DatePicker=18-06-2024

We are already at 5 pieces for Italy :-) so... ??? how we can do ?

Chaphasilor commented 3 months ago

I'm interested in ordering 1 assembled PCB (Germany).
I'd be fine with ordering a batch of 5 and then redistributing the rest :)

PlanetSmasher commented 3 months ago

then I would like to join you with 1 piece to start with. I think it should be around 40 € per Piece for Germany if your quote is much higher we need to write i guess.

If it turns out to be working nice I think i want more aswell. 😃

luckyzor commented 3 months ago

I'm from Belgium and I wanted 1 to test, if ok 5 later.

denisjoshua commented 3 months ago

I think that someone that know how to order the PCBs, must make a google worksheet or a Telegram/WhatsAPP group for the country and we must trust that person to sent the money and place the order... that's all.

So is there anyone that want to make it for Italy ? (or Germany) Thanks Denis

xMase commented 3 months ago

https://t.me/onjuvoice

I have created a telegram group with topics, if anyone have any suggestions it's really appreciated.

Patrickpopp commented 3 months ago

@Chaphasilor I would also take one for testing if you want to order 5.

Kiremas commented 2 months ago

If anyone is interested in the Netherlands: I have 4 left from my second batch, and 2 defective Nests.
